Financial records

are important!

You won't believe

how much it

costs to breed

good quality

pedigreed cats!

Financial Records and Planning

As much as it will dismay you and as much as you want to short-cut this aspect, this is important.

The monitoring of your financial situation will allow you to remain breeding your Ocicats and more importantly, allow you to take the next step of importing your own new breeding cats.

You will need to set up either an Excel spreadsheet or if you prefer, a large hand-written journal.
This is my suggestion as how to set it out.  Your first columns will be your ’ details’; then your other columns across the page / spreadsheet will be labelled for each month of the year.

In this way you can see how you are going at each month end as well as regular intervals throughout the year.

So your first column will contain -

Cash Inflows

A.  CAT AND KITTEN SALES
Adult Cat Sales
Kitten Sales
A.  TOTAL CAT & KITTEN SALES

B.  STUD INCOME
 Stud Services Provided
B.  TOTAL STUD INCOME

C.  EQUIPMENT SALES
Cat Carry Cases
Litter
Litter Boxes
Other Equipment
C.  TOTAL EQUIPMENT SALES

D.  INTEREST INCOME
E.   OTHER INCOME

TOTAL RECEIPTS
this is the total of all your sources of income—so …
A + B + C + D + E = Total Receipts

Now - for the fun/scary part ......
You’re almost there!!!

It’s scary how many categories there are for your expenses, isn’t it?  Which is why it is so important to monitor your finances as you go.

Now to do the calculations -

CASH FLOWS

This last little bit of calculation shows how you’re going with your cash—most important!  There are two steps -

1.  Calculate your Net Cash Flow

           Total Receipts  for month
Less           Total Expenses for month

Equals       Net Cash Flow for month

You need to take notice of this calculation so you don't run out of money

2.  Calculate your Available Cash

Cash Available at start of month (cash in bank & in hand)
Plus/Minus        Net Cash Flow for month

Equals              Cash Available at end of month

If you are saving up for additional breeding cats or equipment, this is where your money is going to come from unless you own a bank or a rich uncle!
